Planning Under Way for Louisville Event, Organizers Recap Successes in Detroit

Those interested in submitting an abstract of the UESI Pipelines 2027 Conference must do so by Oct. 1. An extension to the deadline is not available.  

The Pipelines 2027 Conference – set for Aug. 7-11 in Louisville, Kentucky – provides a forum for industry professionals to share experiences and knowledge. Attendees include owners, agencies, consultants, industry suppliers, contractors and governments from around the world.

This premier industry gathering has become the place of choice for practitioners to discuss technical paper presentations covering the most current state-of-the-art engineering technologies for pipeline and utilities infrastructure.

Recapping 2026

The UESI Pipelines 2026 Conference in Detroit proved once again that the Pipelines Conference is the preeminent technical forum for pipeline and utility professionals from across the globe.

“This year’s conference was a tremendous success, featuring more than 200 presentations across nine concurrent tracks and 72 sessions, along with five pre-conference workshops and an Emerging Leaders Program, which provided attendees with practical guidance on how to navigate the conference, build professional networks, maximize the value of their ASCE membership, and explore volunteer opportunities,” says Muhammad Amer, ENV SP, M.ASCE, managing director of UESI.

He adds, “For the fourth consecutive year, the UESI Pipelines Conference continues to surpass 1,000 attendees. The conference also expanded access to the event by providing 100 municipal scholarships and 20 student scholarships.”

Bechtel Award

A trenchless specific highlight was the presentation of the Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award. The 2026 recipient is Chris Macey, P.Eng, BC.PLW. Macey – the 2025 Trenchless Technology Person of the Year – was recognized for his outstanding contributions to advancing the field of pipeline engineering.

The Bechtel Award is one of the highest honors bestowed by ASCE and the pipeline engineering community. It honors ASCE members whose achievements in research, planning, design, construction, or related professional endeavors have significantly advanced the profession.

UESI Fellows

The 2026 UESI Member Fellow Class was also recognized during the conference, celebrating distinguished members for their leadership, service, and contributions to utility engineering and surveying professions.
