In our January issue, we announced that Kelly VanNatten has taken the helm as the publisher of Trenchless Technology magazine. We are expanding on that news with the announcement of two additional leadership promotions.

Sharon M. Bueno, editor, Trenchless Technology

Sharon M. Bueno has been promoted to Editor of Trenchless Technology and Dan Sisko as Trenchless Ambassador/Advertising Account Manager; each has been with the Trenchless Technology brand for more than 20 years. The pair, in collaboration with VanNatten, form the brand’s executive leadership team and together will shape the future of the trenchless industry’s leading publication in print and online.

“Both Sharon and Dan have 20-plus years of experience with the trenchless technology industry and have earned the respect of the industry they cover,” says VanNatten. “We are excited to move forward with the entire Trenchless Technology team, which boasts incredible experience and talent at every position.”

Benjamin Media Inc. founder Bernie Krzys announced in January that he has turned over the Publisher reins of Trenchless Technology to VanNatten as he takes a step back in his role at the publication he created in 1992. Also, Jim Rush, who previously served as editor of Trenchless Technology, has taken on the role of editorial consultant to the brand.

Bueno has served as a managing editor at Benjamin Media for more than 20 years, first leading the Directional DRILLING magazine team and later Trenchless Technology. She has earned numerous awards from the American Society for Business Press Editors during her time with BMI, as well as received recognition from the Associated Press from her years in the newspaper industry.

“What an amazing opportunity! I’m looking forward to leading the editorial direction of Trenchless Technology, with the help of our incredible brand team,” Bueno says. “The future of the trenchless industry is bright and exciting. I’m looking forward to continuing to bring interesting and comprehensive stories about the people, companies, projects and technologies that impact this industry.”

Sisko has been with Benjamin Media for more than 20 years, as well, charged with the sales and marketing of Trenchless Technology and several other BMI publications. He has carved out many relationships within the industry over this time. He will continue in an expansion of this role, leading the sales team regarding the Trenchless Technology brand, as well as our presence at tradeshows.

“I am very fortunate to continue working alongside passionate and driven people in Kelly and Sharon,” said Sisko. “We have a highly creative group here and that is what keeps me going. Over the years I have been so happy to see companies grow through Trenchless Technology’s offerings and I’m excited to continue to present those opportunities to the industry.

Krzys has served as publisher since the magazine’s inception and has been the face of the trenchless media brand for more than 30 years. He is also a member of the NASTT Hall of Fame, inducted in its inaugural class in 2012. Though taking a step back, he will still be found at industry shows and events.

“After 30 years at the helm of this incredible brand, I have decided that now is the time to turn over the leadership reins to our talented and veteran staff, who literally have trenchless technology in their blood,” Krzys says. “I am certainly not going away. You will still see me at industry functions, and I will be serving as an advisor to this leadership group.”
