Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) contractors in North America have a new option when looking for their next drills. In December it was announced that Trenchless Utility Equipment Inc./Elvaan Equipment Solutions is now the North American distributor Terra Trenchless Technologies and its full line of Terra-Jet directional drills, pit-launched machines and piercing tools.
Terra Trenchless Technologies is a Swiss manufacturer of HDD and other technology systems for trenchless underground pipe and cable laying. Founded in 1975 by Dr. Ing. Gustav Jenne, Terra is headquartered in Reiden, in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. The family-owned company is now in its third generation.
The addition of North American distribution of Terra’s equipment also marked a milestone for Suman Mukherjee and Suvomita Das, the new owners of Trenchless Utility Equipment Inc. based in the Greater Toronto Area in Canada.
Terra offers drills from 10,000 lbs to 40,000 lbs of thrust/pullback force and Trenchless Utility Equipment has demo units available to showcase the capabilities of the equipment. Terra also offers piercing tools from 2- to 8-in. and pit launched machines from 13,200 lbs to 18,000 lbs of thrust/pullback force.
To help support the new line, the Trenchless Utility Equipment’s parts, service and sales team has undergone multiple training sessions at the Terra factory in Switzerland, and Terra’s global product and training managers have also provided training in Canada. Trenchless Utility Equipment also has a full stock of 95 percent of the parts for each of these drills in its warehouse in Toronto along with 24-hour air-shipment of any critical parts from Zurich, Switzerland to ensure its customer have no down-time.
As a promotion to herald the new HDD line to North America Trenchless Utility Equipment and Terra Trenchless Technologies are offering an all-expenses paid trip to Switzerland and the Terra facilities with the purchases of a Terra HDD drill in 2023.
