Michels Awarded Work on Keystone XL Project

Michels Pipeline Construction, a division of Brownsville, Wis.-based Michels Corp., has been awarded spreads 1-4 of TransCanada’s Keystone XL Gulf Coast Expansion Project.

Michels Pipeline Construction will install 371 miles of 36-in. pipe running from Payne County, Okla., to Angelina County, Texas. Michels Directional Crossings will also perform 19 directional drills required along the route.

Michels Pipeline Construction director of major projects James P. Murphy will oversee and manage the entire project.

During construction, the Keystone XL Project will create employment opportunities for thousands of highly qualified workers who will support the construction of the crude oil pipeline system. When fully completed, the Keystone XL will span 1,661 miles from Hardisty, Alberta, Canada, to Nederland, Texas, and will improve U.S. energy security.
