Madewell Products Corp. Celebrates 50 Years
Madewell Products Corp. has reached a milestone some call golden, others call jubilee, but Madewell believes it’s just getting started.
Established in 1974 after acquiring the branded and patented process rights from US Steel, Alpharetta, Georgia-based Madewell Products is a developer and manufacturer of restoration mortars and corrosion resistant protective coatings under the Mainstay brand name.
Madewell and the Steele family are pioneers in the coatings industry, as well as the NACE Inspector Certification Program (now the AMPP Coatings Inspector Program) with certificates #001, #016 and #018.
Under the leadership of Jonathan Steele, founder and president, the company has grown responsibly. It is now time for the next generation to lead the company with a relevant vision for growth.
“I’m not retiring anytime soon, but I am placing authority and responsibility in the right hands to execute our strategic plans for sustainable growth over the next decade with intent to be the trenchless company people admire, respect, and choose to align with,” says Jonathan Steele.
Natalie Steele, vice president of operations, joined Madewell following graduation from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia in 2012.
“Over the last 50 years, Madewell has maintained a reputation for the highest quality products, equipment, and customer service,” said Natalie. “I am honored to continue this legacy and look forward to further growing our business.”
Craig Closser, better known as “Coach,” has served the trenchless industry for more than 24 years through his roles as supervisor, estimator, project manager, and now the vice president of business development at Madewell. He is also an active and certified member of NASSCO.
“My plan is to keep doing what I do best: mentoring our sales, marketing, and tech service teams to continue supporting and serving our contracting partners,” said Closser.
What makes Madewell and the Mainstay process unique is the application of an epoxy topcoat over green (uncured) restoration mortar. Executed by a network of trained, equipped and authorized certified applicators in North America, the single-curing process saves time, reduces cost, minimizes defects and restores our failing infrastructure with a design life expectancy of over 50 years. Madewell manufactures multiple restoration mortar products and epoxy topcoats engineered to work as one to create the Mainstay Composite Liner system.
