PLCA Holds 76th Annual Convention in the Bahamas

The Pipe Line Contractors Association (PLCA) held its 76th annual convention, Feb. 6-10, at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. 

Approximately 400 regular members, associate members and special guests attended the event, which featured the election of the association’s new president and board of directors, as well as business sessions, fundraisers, networking events and a keynote presentation by former NFL quarterback Archie Manning.

Josh Ramsey, president of Rockford Corp., was elected PLCA president during a meeting of the PLCA regular members on Feb. 2. Ramsey has served on the PLCA board of directors since 2018.

Several PLCA past presidents and honorary members attended the convention, including Jimmy Crotts, Paul Gregory, Mike Langston, Kelly Osborn, Charles Price, Robert Riess, Steve Rooney, Frank Welch and Ronnie Wise.  In addition, Paul Gregory (Price Gregory) and Dale Mykyte (Pe Ben) were named the PLCA’s newest honorary members.

The President’s Dinner honored outgoing PLCA president Robert Bell, CEO of Price Gregory, who also presented the State of the Industry speech during the convention.

Business sessions included a Government Affairs Townhall and the Pipeline Construction Forum. The Government Affairs Townhall included information about the PLCA’s advocacy achievements in 2023 (such as permitting reform advocacy, participation in Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future, resumption of work on Mountain Valley Pipeline) and a preview of 2024 advocacy priorities (45Q regulations, project-specific support and continued focus on permitting reform and industry advocacy through Natural Allies and other opportunities).

The Pipeline Construction Forum presented information and statistics regarding current ongoing pipeline construction projects, a summary of work hours and conducted under the National Pipe Line Agreements, and a pipeline market forecast.

The PLCA also announced of this year’s 14 PLCA Paul Evans Scholarship Program recipients, awarded to children, stepchildren or grandchildren of PLCA member employees. Fundraising for the Paul Evans Scholarship Program occurred throughout the week, including a Big Board auction and a couple of lively fundraising games at the annual banquet, including a Secret Spirits Raffle and a rousing game of Heads or Tails. More than $75,000 was raised for the scholarship program.

Networking events included Junkanoo Welcome Dinner, Tropical Glow Party, “Let’s Flamingle” President’s Social Event featuring the Baha Mar’s resident flamingos, and the PLCA Annual Banquet, featuring comedian Lace Larrabee.
