New Microtunneling Tender Announced in Turkey
The Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration recently announced a new microtunneling tender in Istanbul, Turkey. The tender was made on Jan. 25 in Istanbul for the construction of a utility tunnel by a TBM machine with a diameter of Ø 2,200 mm and length of 8,125 m.
The construction of nine shafts is also included in the tender. The inner diameter of each shaft is 7.5 m and the total length of entire shafts is 182 m. The construction period is indicated as 1,280 days in the tender documents.
The last microtunneling tender in Istanbul was made on Dec. 25, 2012 for the construction of a utility tunnel by a TBM machine with a diameter of Ø 3,600 mm and length of 7,781 m. A pipe-jacking project with a diameter of Ø 2,000 mm and length of 359 m was also included in the tender. At the present time, the awarded contractor has not been officially announced yet, but it is expected to be announced soon.
Currently, there are several ongoing utility tunnel construction projects with TBM machines in Istanbul, Turkey. Some of these ongoing projects are:

• Waste Water Utility Tunnel Construction Project: diameter Ø 2,000 mm length 6,016 m
• Waste Water Utility Tunnel Construction Project: diameter Ø 3,600 mm length 9,350 m
