2022 No-Dig North Heading to Toronto
Canadian-Focused Trenchless Conference and Tradeshow Continues to Grow
For its third iteration, No-Dig North 2022 heads east to Ontario — Toronto to be specific — a longtime hub of activity for trenchless technologies in Canada and for all of North America.
The North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT) and its Canadian chapters are looking forward to welcoming attendees to the 2022 show, Oct. 17-19 at the Beanfield Centre. No-Dig North is a must-attend for anyone involved in the underground infrastructure space. This includes – but is not limited to – municipalities, utilities, contractors, engineers and damage prevention professionals.
No-Dig North co-chairs David Crowder, R.V.Anderson Associates Ltd., and Gerry Bauer, Stantec Consulting Ltd, and the rest of the volunteer steering committee have worked diligently to put together a show that includes two days (Oct. 18 and 19) of thoroughly vetted technical paper presentations and exhibits featuring the latest in trenchless equipment and services.
“I encourage municipalities – both local and remote – to come and meet with experts to discuss your trenchless needs and possible solutions,” says Crowder. “Bring your public works staff, attend both pre-training courses for your junior staff, visit over 80 trenchless booths and talk with the experts who will be waiting to answer all your questions. Consultants, bring your project managers, designers, contract administrators, and your inspectors and learn new techniques and see the latest in innovation.”
The goal of No-Dig North is to learn about new and emerging trenchless technologies that can help reduce your carbon footprint and help reduce overall construction costs as well, Crowder notes.
The conference officially begins at the Kick-Off Breakfast Oct. 18, which includes the keynote address from Lou Di Gironimo, general manager of Toronto Water.
Under his leadership, the 1,700 staff in Toronto Water focus on providing quality water services – supplying drinking water, treating wastewater and managing stormwater – essential for protecting public health, property and the environment. The division serves 3.6 million residents and businesses in Toronto and portions of York and Peel, with $83 billion in infrastructure. Di Gironimo has a diverse background in both the private and public sectors at the municipal and provincial levels of government. Some of the organizations he has been associated with include the City of Hamilton, the Ontario Clean Water Agency and the Ontario Development Corporation. He has also worked for private engineering and land development companies. During his career, Di Gironimo has had extensive experience managing municipal infrastructure and urban development issues.
The Kick-Off Breakfast also includes the No-Dig North 2022 Projects of the Year Awards.
For those looking to get to Toronto early, Oct. 17 includes four pre-event NASTT Good Practices courses and an opening night networking reception with exhibitors that includes complimentary appetizers and drinks.
A full agenda featuring the technical session tracks and all activities is available at nodignorth.ca/program.
