World Trenchless Day 2018 Recap
The third annual World Trenchless Day — held Sept. 27, 2018 — once again provided the global trenchless community a chance to come together and promote the economic, environmental, safety and social benefits of the industry.

World Trenchless Day, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of September each year, unites the entire trenchless industry — manufacturers, contractors, engineering firms, associations, public works and publications — to share the world of trenchless technology, reaching out to those who have not yet realized the impact that trenchless methods have on their communities.
The impact that the use of trenchless methods has on communities, the economy and quality of life is immense and will only continue to grow as municipalities and utilities realize and understand their benefits vs. traditional methods.

Source One Environmental (S1E), headquartered in Davison, Michigan, used the day to not only promote the industry but to give back to the community. S1E’s headquarters are about 10 miles from Flint, Michigan, the epicenter of the clean water and infrastructure funding crisis in the United States. To support local efforts, S1E pledged to donate a portion of proceeds of all sales on World Trenchless Day to the United Way of Genesee County.
According to the Flint Cares website, on April 7, 2018, following the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality release of water quality data, the State of Michigan announced the discontinued resource of bottled water for Flint residents. Bottled water, supplied with state fund, is no longer available. At this point any bottled water coming into the community is from donations only. There is no consistent source for bottled water in Flint.
Because of its World Trenchless Day efforts, the company was able to donate two pallets (120 cases) of water to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, which is where the local United Way office directed S1E.
LMK Technologies World Trenchless Day efforts included a presentation by Rick Gage, vice president of sales, as well as a company appreciation event.
LMK Technologies once again celebrated World Trenchless Day with a company-wide appreciation event that included doughnuts and a presentation by Rick Gage, vice president of sales, LMK Technologies, discussing how impactful LMK’s trenchless solutions are, and the effects that trenchless methods have on communities, the economy and quality of life. Gage is also a board member of the World Trenchless Day Foundation.
We also created the Go Trenchless poster, featuring our publisher and founder Bernie Krzys. People loved this idea, so we updated it with the 2019 date — Sept. 26, 2019 — and added to our website as a free download in 11×17 and 8×10 sizes.
Internally, at Trenchless Technology world headquarters in Brecksville, Ohio, we announced our 2018 Trenchless Technology Project of the Year winners following the Avanti-sponsored webinar, “New Science, Technologies, and Rules for Execution Advance the Cause for Municipal Grouting.” Read the stories about our 2018 winners at our Project of the Year page.
Remember to mark Sept. 26, 2019 on your calendars as World Trenchless Day 2019 and visit worldtrenchlessday.org for more information on how you can get involved.
