A pillar event of the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW), the Water Convention 2011 will be held in Singapore from July 5-7, 2011. The three-day event is the platform for industry experts, practitioners, researchers and academics to exchange ideas and share the latest advances and challenges in water and used water treatment. The 2011 Water Convention will focus on emerging issues and highlight case studies along these themes:

  • Solutions for Water System Efficiency & Effectiveness
  • Planning for Sustainable Water Solutions
  • Water Quality & Health
  • Governance & Finance
More than 1,000 delegates attended the 2010 Water Convention where 160 oral posters and 80 posters presentations were showcased. Enthusiastic responses to the newly introduced e-posters and lively discussions at the convention also attested the success of the Convention as a platform for discussions among water professionals.

For the first time, there will be a series of focused workshops for each of the convention themes. Held on July 4, 2011, these workshops provide participants an opportunity for in-depth discussions on current issues such as emerging contaminants, river basin management and challenges in adopting technology and managing water.  Participants will gain new insights and a better understanding of the emerging issues that policymakers and practitioners face in the global and Asia water market.

Another highlight event at the Water Convention is the launch of the 4th Edition of the Drinking Water Quality Guidelines by the World Health Organization.
