WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL 2011: Russia Forum Will Discuss Future Demands on Water Supply & Wastewater Disposal

The Russia Forum, taking place on May 3 at WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL 2011, will be another important highlight at Europe’s leading event for the water sector. The expansion of water supplies and wastewater disposal in the Russian Federation form the basis for this event.

Numerous strategic projects will be implemented to improve the infrastructure as part of the “Pure Water” program, which will run until 2020. Several billion euros will be invested in the project, which will be financed partially by the public sector and partially though public-private partnerships.

The Russia Forum is being organized jointly by Messe Berlin GmbH, the German Water Partnership and the Eastern Committee of German Industry. The main emphasis will be on a practical approach as a way of efficiently using the latest technology in order to achieve the desired objectives. The Russia Forum will be divided into two sections. In the first of these prominent Russian politicians and business figures will provide a comprehensive review of the current situation, explaining the legal situation and the problems involved in finding qualified experts and the necessary finance. During the second part of the forum details of actual German-Russian projects will be presented by Russian and German experts, who will also preview the possibilities for future joint ventures. The speakers will include Svetlana Orlova, Deputy Chair of the Federative Council of the Russian Federation; Anatoly Popov, Deputy Minister for Regional Development of the Russian Federation; and Dr. Michael Beckereit, Chairman of the Board of the German Water Partnership.

”The Russia Forum represents another major contribution to the program of WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL 2011, providing an ideal combination of technology and business aspects,” according to Cornelia Wolff von der Sahl, Project Manager for WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL.

“It not only looks at the measures which are being implemented but also at actual contracts and the investment budgets. The effectiveness of this combination was borne out at the last such event, when the partner country was Bulgaria. The continuation of this format is a logical step. Close links and many years of collaboration between the relevant authorities and agencies in Germany and Eastern Europe have been invaluable and have played a decisive part in ensuring the success of this event. The trade show will also feature such important Russian exhibitors as the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation, together with Vodokanal St. Petersburg and Plant Vodopribor.”

The 29th International NO DIG is a further highlight at WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL 2011, where there will be a unique presentation of the latest in trenchless technology at the congress and at the fair. Ever since 1982 trenchless construction methods have represented an environmentally sound, low-cost alternative wherever underground pipelines are modernized or installed. In 2010, the 28th International No-Dig took place in Singapore, attended by 100 exhibitors and 1,500 congress participants from 38 countries.
