Sekisui SPR Americas LLC (SSPRA) held a grand opening on July 20, for its newcorporate headquarters in Atlanta. More than 50 guests toured the facility andhad lunch. Sekisui SPR Americas is a subsidiary of Sekisui Chemical Co., Japan.
Sekisui Chemical’s president Naotake Okubo traveled from Tokyo to attend theevent. Dr. Tom Iseley, Sekisui SPR Americas’ President and chief operatingofficer, hosted the event. Rob Hunter, commissioner, Atlanta Department ofPublic Watershed Management, participated in the opening ceremonies. Otherguests from Sekisui Chemical’s Tokyo headquarters included Kozo Takami andRobert Toyoda.
At a separate ceremony later in the day, Okubo and Iseley met with AtlantaMayor Shirley Franklin. At that time, Okubo presented Franklin with a speciallycrafted Geisha doll he brought from Japan. Franklin’s meeting with Sekisuiincluded Commissioner Hunter and Kasim Reed, Georgia State legislator for thedistrict where the SPR Americas facility is located.
The 23,000-sq ft facility provides SSPRA with corporate offices, world classtraining, manufacturing, operational and R&D capabilities. With thisfacility, SSPRA further enhances its strong commitment to the Atlanta area byproviding the City with a training facility for the installation of several keytrenchless technologies. SSPRA has strong working relationships with severalMBEs in the Atlanta area and provides important mentoring, financial and projectmanagement support.
SSPRA’s core technology is the Sekisui SPR Spiral Wound PVC process forrenewing larger diameter pipes, circular and non-circular. SPR has beensuccessfully installed in several projects in Los Angeles. Several new projectsacross the United States are currently scheduled.
