SAK Construction Acquires Pipenology Inc. to Expand Its Western U.S. Presence

SAK Construction, a national pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling services contractor headquartered in the St. Louis area, announced April 5 that it has acquired Pipenology Inc., a Rocklin, Calif.-based contractor.

The acquisition expands SAK’s western U.S. presence, which currently includes work on major contracts in California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas. SAK, which had gross revenues exceeding $70 million in 2010, offers expertise to clients nationwide in large diameter tunneling and trenchless technologies, including CIPP (cured-in-place pipe).

“Pipenology is an exceptionally talented construction group that will complement what is already an exceptionally talented western U.S. operation,” says SAK president Jerry Shaw. “The addition of Pipenology to our existing western U.S. team makes us by far the premier pipeline rehabilitation company within that vast geographical region.”

Pipenology is led by industry veterans Ryan Broyles and Joe Feuerborn, and was founded in January 2007.

SAK Construction is privately held and led by Shaw and former Insituform Technologies executives Robert Affholder and Tom Kalishman. SAK offers expertise in trenchless technology including CIPP and a full range of underground construction services to provide clients with cost-effective solutions to the problems associated with inadequate or deteriorating water mains, sanitary sewers and storm sewers. SAK clients include a variety of city, county and state agencies; federal agencies; industrial sectors; municipalities; and water and sewer cooperatives coast-to-coast.
