Rädlinger Primus Line Expands Product Portfolio

Rädlinger Primus Line recently unveiled substantial additions to its product portfolio that mark a significant step forward for infrastructure renewal projects worldwide.

DN 450 Liner for Water Applications

One of the highlights of the expanded Primus Line portfolio is the new DN 450 liner size, specifically tailored for the water market. Engineered for optimum cost effectiveness, the DN 450 liner has a pressure rating of PN 10, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications requiring reliable and efficient rehabilitation solutions.

For projects with higher pressure capabilities, the existing PN 16 rated DN 450 product remains available, ensuring customers have the flexibility to choose the solution that best meets their project requirements. This dual offering demonstrates Rädlinger Primus Line’s commitment to providing the optimum cost-performance solution for each individual project.

The new liner system offers a 20 percent cost saving over the current liner system. The new generation of liners has already received numerous international hygienic certifications, approvals in other countries are in progress. In addition to drinking water, this new liner can also be used for sewerage, fire water and salt water pipes where hygienic certifications are not required.

Enhanced Hybrid Liner Configuration

Primus Line has also introduced an enhanced hybrid liner configuration (ED liner) that combines Kevlar and polyester materials in an improved fabric design.

This hybrid liner offers the following significant benefits:

  • Optimized cost effectiveness: By leveraging the material strength of Kevlar and combining it with polyester in an innovative design, the liner provides an economically attractive solution without compromising on technical excellence and quality in terms of durability or reliability.
  • Improved flexibility around bends: The liner excels in installations with challenging pipe geometries, easily accommodating bends of up to 45 degrees (r=1.5xD). This feature minimises disruption during installation and reduces project timelines.

These advances make the hybrid liner particularly well suited to the complex demands of the water market.

The previous hybrid liner configuration (ND liner) will still be available in 2025, but will be phased out and eventually replaced by the new ED liner design.

“The new liners will give design engineers and operators additional instruments in their toolbox to rehabilitate their existing water infrastructure,” says Andreas Gross, head of Primus Line’s international water projects business unit. “After three years of development, thorough testing and certification processes, we are excited to launch this new product line”.

Short Connector Design

Another feature of the expanded portfolio is the short connector design, a key innovation for projects requiring installation in confined spaces or areas with limited access.

The connector width can be reduced by up to 9 cm depending on the connector size – sometimes crucial when working in existing chambers and avoiding excavation entirely.

The compact connector allows the Primus Line system to be seamlessly integrated  in tight spaces, providing a practical and efficient solution without compromising on performance or durability.

In addition to the short connector design, Rädlinger Primus Line now offers connectors with integrated reducers, for example, when a DN 500 Primus Line system is installed in a DN 600 host pipe. A compact design minimizes excavation, avoids the cost for an additional reducer and accelerates the assembly process.
