Power & Precision is at Your Fingertips with Aries Industries Wolverine® 2.0 Self-Propelled Robotic Electric Cutting System
Aries Industries Wolverine® 2.0 Self-Propelled Robotic Electric Cutting System cuts through challenging material with speed and precision. It delivers unparalleled capabilities for underground pipe rehabilitation, lateral reinstatement and sectional repair. The Wolverine 2.0 operates in pipes 6 to 18 inches. The vehicle-mounted system is designed and built at Aries Industries’ U.S.-based plant and includes a rugged tractor, advanced camera, reel, and ergonomic controller.
Built to Maximize Uptime and Ease-of-Use
The Wolverine 2.0 features stainless steel and brass construction and integrated electrical cabling. It is equipped with an electric 1kw@7000-12000 RPM motor with adjustable speed settings. The Wolverine 2.0 is field repairable and rebuildable to minimize downtime.
Every element of the Wolverine 2.0 system is designed to withstand the rigors of sewer rehabilitation. The tractor is built tough, with linearly adjustable speed and axis movement for ultimate maneuverability. Its compact profile and all-wheel drive ensures operators are able to navigate tough terrain and debris in pipelines. The tractor allows for multiple wheel configurations to match pipe conditions and includes a stabilizing lift for balanced operation.
To maximize uptime, the camera uses fixed lens with field-replaceable glass. It is equipped with a built-in lens wiper and scraper to keep the camera clear without needing to retrieve it from the pipe. An adjustable LED light ring ensures maximum visibility.
The controller for the Wolverine 2.0 Cutting System is an ergonomically advanced desktop, dual joystick. It has fingertip operation, CANbus technology, touch screen display and integrated DVR.
Wolverine 2.0 On the Job
In the fall of 2019, Ace Pipe Cleaning, based in Kansas City, MO acquired the, Wolverine 2.0® to complete the grinding of calcium deposits as part of a rehabilitation project in Joplin, MO. There was a specific advantage on this project to having an electric cutter rather than an air- or water-powered cutter. High levels of inflow and infiltration already presented visibility challenges and significant water and flow to cope with. As the cutter grinds and spins at a high rate of speed, the additional spray of water can impede visibility. With air- or water-powered cutters, that issue is made worse because the exhaust air or return water causes even more water to get thrown around. This additional spray was not an issue with Aries Wolverine 2.0®, which helped improve the visibility during the grinding process.
Making customers’ jobs easier and more effective informs Aries’ enhancements to Wolverine 2.0. For example, in response to customer feedback the Wolverine 2.0 cable was recently extended to 850 feet. With this length, truck setup time is reduced, saving both labor and logistical costs.
