Plastics Pipe Institute Meets in Dallas

The Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI) held its semi-annual meeting Oct. 14-17 in Southlake, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. The meeting was held at the Hilton Southlake Town Square facility. There were more than 200 on attendance.

The meeting included separate meetings of the PPI’s very active divisions — Building and Construction, Conduit, Municipal and Industrial, Corrugated Pipe and the newly named Energy Piping Systems Division.
Guest speakers for the overall meeting included Eben Wyman of Wyman Associates, who discussed the importance of government affairs initiatives by professional trade associations.

Also presenting was Bernie Krzys, president of Benjamin Media and publisher of Trenchless Technology and Water Utility Infrastructure Management (UIM). Krzys discussed the value of marketing in an engineering world. Additionally, Katheryn Malusky from the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program addressed the Corrugated Pipe Division and provided updates on AASHTO’s National Transportation Product Evaluations Programs for HDPE and PVC pipe, as well as their plans for reinforced concrete pipe.

PPI executive director Tony Radoszewski spearheaded all of the meeting activities. PPI’s 2013’s annual meeting will be held May 5-8 in St. Pete Beach, Fla. The 2013 semi-annual meeting will be held Sept. 29-Oct. 2 in Charlotte, S.C.
