More than 550 Chicago area businesses applied for this award, with 100 finalists that included large corporations such as Motorola and United Airlines. LMK Technologies president Larry W. Kiest Jr. currently holds 117 patents for his inventions in the trenchless technology industry. He sees this award as recognition for helping municipalities and other utility owners advance our nation’s communities to repair pipeline infrastructures by employing noninvasive products and no-dig methods.
The award-winning product relates to lining old sewer pipes and making them like new with no digging is required. The lining uses a unique gasket system that produces a watertight sealed piping system which helps municipalities comply with federal court orders to tighten up leaking sewers that cause sewer overflows, a serious global environmental issue.
