Ottawa, Ill.- based company LMK Technologies was honored Oct. 30 for its creativity and new product technology as a recipient of the Chicago Innovation Awards as part of the Midwest’s largest annual celebration for creativity and innovation.

LMK and Kiest was recognized for its T-Liner outfitted with Insignia Hydro Hat (an engineered gasket) used for forming a compression gasket seal between Lateral CIPP and Main CIPP.

At the Harris Theater in Chicago on Oct. 30, in front of 1,500 invitees, Kiest accepted the award on behalf of LMK Technologies for LMK’s products and success in the trenchless technology and sewer rehabilitation industry. LMK is a world re-known leader in its industry with licensees of its products worldwide. For more than 20 years, LMK has been dedicated to research, development and creating cutting edge technology and today employs approximately 75 employees located on Chessie Lane in Ottawa, Ill.

More than 550 Chicago area businesses applied for this award, with 100 finalists that included large corporations such as Motorola and United Airlines. LMK Technologies president Larry W. Kiest Jr. currently holds 117 patents for his inventions in the trenchless technology industry. He sees this award as recognition for helping municipalities and other utility owners advance our nation’s communities to repair pipeline infrastructures by employing noninvasive products and no-dig methods.

The award-winning product relates to lining old sewer pipes and making them like new with no digging is required. The lining uses a unique gasket system that produces a watertight sealed piping system which helps municipalities comply with federal court orders to tighten up leaking sewers that cause sewer overflows, a serious global environmental issue.

This year’s award winners will travel to New York City to ring the NASDAQ Bell and attend a private luncheon with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, and Cook County Chairman Toni Preckwinkle.
