ISTT Welcomes 3 New Affiliated Societies

The International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT) has announced it has welcomed three new Affiliated Societies, bringing its total to 29.

Joining ISTT as Affiliated Societies is the first ever Society located in the Middle East, called the United Arab Emirates Society for Trenchless Technology (UAESTT), which covers the regions of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain. Also joining ISTT is the Romanian Society for Trenchless Technology (RoSTT) and the South European Society for Trenchless Technology (SESTT)

“We are very excited to add these Affiliated Societies to ISTT,” says ISTT chairman Dr. Sam Ariaratnam, who along with ISTT executive director John Hemphill traveled to Romania to be on hand for the official ceremony to establish the RoSTT. “There is a tremendous amount of trenchless work going on internationally. ISTT has now expanded in 40 countries and there are plans to expand into more.”

Ariaratnam notes that ISTT is covered in most of Europe, with just a few of the smaller nations not having official ISTT Affiliated Societies. He says that possible future Affiliated Societies could be established in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.

“The international market for trenchless is huge right now,” Ariaratnam says. “It’s growing so fast.”
