Great Lakes Trenchless Association Holds 2014 Convention & Education Expo

The Great Lakes Trenchless Association held its 2014 Convention and Education Expo Jan. 17-18 at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. The well-attended event featured renowned national trainer, Tim Connor, plus two tracks of education that included both technical and business management topics covering a diverse array of industry issues. GLTA President Dustin Schlachter of Advanced Rehabilitation Technologies, Inc. presided over the GLTA Annual Meeting, which highlighted the upcoming changes to Ohio’s Underground Damage Prevention Laws.
The exhibit hall was expanded this year to offer a live demonstration of PipePatch No-Dig Repair System in addition to large equipment displays and an array of new technology advancements. The event also featured a mud school presented by American Augers and CETCO.
The highpoint of the entire event was Past President, Brian Willis’s heart-felt presentation of the “Person of the Year Award” to Dick Krzys. Krzys was honored for his dedicated service to the industry and his many years of hard work in establishing and growing the association into the successful organization it is today. Krzys previously was the longtime associate publisher at Benjamin Media Inc. before retiring several years ago.
Families attending the event enjoyed group outings throughout the resort including private cabanas in the water park, a special reception at one of the resort’s hot spots, and the family-friendly entertainment of the final banquet. The children participated in a special kids raffle and the members generously supported the silent auction.
