Gabe’s Executive VP Gabrielse Retires
March 23, 2011
A long-time Gabe’s Construction Co. Inc. veteran will retire this year. Ken Gabrielse, executive vice president of the pipeline contracting company, has retired as an officer and member of the board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 2011. Nick Atkin will take over Gabrielse’s operational responsibilities.
Although Gabrielse has announced his retirement, he will continue his employment with Gabe’s Construction during its transitional period through May 1.
Gabrielse started at Gabe’s in 1971 and became vice president in 1979 and then executive vice president in 1997. In addition to his role at the construction firm, he also served the pipeline industry as president of the Distribution Contractors Association and is currently on its board of directors.
“Although we will all miss Ken,” wrote Gabe’s president Tim Gabrielse in a letter announcing the retirement, “he has worked hard his entire career and has earned the opportunity to enjoy more time with his family and grandchildren, along with riding his Harley.”
