DCA Holds 47th Annual Convention

The Distribution Contractors Association (DCA) held its 47th annual convention Feb. 12-17 at the Renaissance Emeralda Resort & Spa, Indian Wells, Calif., attracting 300 attendees to the event.

During the convention, DCA elected its 2008 slate of officers and directors. Anthony Deusenbery, vice president and safety director for Otis Eastern Service, Wellsville, N.Y., was named the association’s president.
Other officers for 2008 are: vice president, Shepard Poole, senior vice president of The Hallen Construction Co., Island Park, N.Y.; and treasurer, Kevin Miller, president chief operating officer, Miller Pipeline Corp., Indianapolis. Dennis Kennedy will continue his position as DCA executive vice president. Directors elected to two-year terms are: Grady Bell, estimator/engineer, Laney Directional Drilling, Humble, Texas; Gregory Dahl, vice president, ARB Inc., Lake Forest, Calif.; and Kevin Michels, vice president, Michels Corp., Brownsville, Wis.

The association’s 18th annual auction held on Feb 15 and hosted by Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers and DCA honorary member Butch Graham, raised more than $300,000. The auction provides critical support for the DCA scholarship program and safety congress. Also presented at the convention was its annual Arthur T. Everham DCA Safety Award to recognize companies with exceptional safety records. Recipients of the DCA
Dale R. Michels Endowed Scholarship for the 2008-09 academic were announced at the Keynote Breakfast on Feb. 14.

The 2009 DCA convention is scheduled for Feb. 22-27 in Maui, Hawaii.
