CUIIC Academy’s 2024 Pipeline Rehabilitation Academy a Success
The second CUIIC Academy Pipeline Rehabilitation Academy — hosted by the Canadian Underground Infrastructure Innovation Centre (CUIIC) and Benjamin Media Inc. — was a success.
Held for the first time in 2023 in Ontario, the Pipeline Rehabilitation Academy headed west to Vancouver for 2024. Taking place March 13-14 at the historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, the event drew in nearly 100 attendees including engineers, municipalities, suppliers and consultants from across Canada and the United States.
Organized by CUIIC and Benjamin Media Inc. (publisher of Trenchless Technology Canada), CUIIC Academy offers classes, courses, webinars and events to help further underground infrastructure educational opportunities across Canada.
“The Pipeline Rehabilitation Academy has continued to grow year over year,” notes CUIIC director, Alireza Bayat, Ph.D., P.Eng., professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. “Thank you to the CUIIC Pipeline Rehabilitation Subcommittee for developing a strong educational program.”
The Pipeline Rehabilitation Academy is a two-day course that equips attendees with knowledge related to asset management, condition assessment, maintenance and rehabilitation of underground pipelines. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from experts about the most up-to-date advancements and new technologies available to repair and rehabilitate the aging infrastructure.
Day 1 focused on understanding the problems that need to be fixed and gravity pipeline rehabilitation and Day 2 focused on one pressure pipe systems condition assessment and rehabilitation methods.
For 2025, the CUIIC Academy Pipeline Rehabilitation Academy is looking to head east. More information about the conference will be available at acdemy.cuiic.ca.
