ADS Unveils New Design Program for Underground Stormwater Systems
June 1, 2015
Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (ADS) (NYSE: WMS) has announced a new, online program for designing and estimating the cost of a stormwater system constructed with its StormTech Chambers.

The ADS StormTech Design Tool enables engineers, ads storm chamberowners and contractors to design customizable underground stormwater management systems.
Available for free on the company website (www.ads-pipe.com), the ADS StormTech Design Tool enables engineers, owners and contractors to design customizable underground stormwater management systems. The flexible tool provides the ability for site-specific applications and can be accessed and used through multiple platforms, including smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. System designs from the StormTech Design Tool are produced in both PDF and CAD formats, with data provided that allows users to estimate a total installed cost.
The design tool provides an important first step in the evaluation of water management solutions including consideration for important criteria such as the feasibility of retention pond replacement, alternative underground products, land values and usage, public safety, regulatory compliance, water harvesting, water quality, LID applications and more.
“We developed this new design tool to help our customers who want and need a rapid and responsive means of planning underground storm water management solutions for their projects,” stated ADS executive vice president of sales Bob Klein. “Subsurface storage systems are easy-to-install solutions that save space, improve land use and provide a way to meet EPA regulations. The new design tool makes it easier for the user to design a system using our products as a solution.”
The combination of ADS StormTech chambers, StormTech Isolator Row, N-12 and HP pipe are long-life, cost-effective products to control stormwater. The ADS StormTech Design Tool enables quicker evaluation and response time for designers, who can also share designs from the program directly with ADS technical services group for additional support at no cost.
Typically used in non-residential, residential and infrastructure applications, StormTech chambers provide a large storage volume per square foot of land area. The chambers are designed in accordance with AASHTO and ASTM design standards and meet AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications for live and dead loads. Manufactured using polypropylene, the chambers are rated by ADS for a 75-year service life.
