Innovation of Month: SprayWall Provides Long-Lasting Solution for a Failing Stormwater Pipe

A city in Indiana encountered a severe infrastructure challenge when a corroded storm pipe caused a sinkhole at a busy intersection. While part of the pipe was replaced, 220 feet remained vulnerable to failure, which required an immediate, non-disruptive solution. Sprayroq’s local certified applicator was contracted to rehabilitate the remaining pipe. They used SprayWall, our structural polyurethane lining, to create a protective layer inside the pipe that acts as its own independent structure. This solution restored the pipe’s structural integrity, avoiding excavation and minimizing disruptions to traffic and the surrounding environment. The repair also extended the pipe’s service life by 50 years.

SprayWall was chosen for its rapid application process, curing speed, and long-lasting durability. The project’s success underscored the benefits of using trenchless technologies in emergency situations where time, cost, and preservation of the natural environment are critical factors. The application was completed efficiently without interrupting daily operations in the area, and the finished lining met all the city’s specifications. This project serves as a prime example of the advantages of SprayWall for municipalities seeking a permanent yet minimally invasive pipe rehabilitation solution. Sprayroq’s products helped this city avoid future failures, enhancing the reliability of their stormwater infrastructure.
