Practical Pigging Training in Rio de Janeiro Set for April 27-May 1

The first-ever hands-on training course designed to instruct attendees in what pigs do, how they do it, and how they can be safely operated, is being held at the CTDUT test loop in Rio de Janeiro on April 27-May 1, 2009, and details are now available at

The course is a joint project between CTDUT, Penspen of the UK, Rosen Engineering of Brazil (who will supply the pigs and accompanying technicians), and Houston-based Clarion/Scientific Surveys Ltd, and is designed to give real practical experience of real pigging operations in real-life situations. Future courses at CTDUT will use the 2.5-km oil- and gas-powered test loops currently under construction. This first course will use the facility’s 14-in. water and air-driven loop, and both utility and intelligent tools will be used for real-time demonstrations.
