Obituary: Tom Tibor, Baroid Industrial Drilling Fluids

tom-tibor-baroidBaroid Industrial Drilling Products senior account representative Thomas A. Tibor, 63, of Guthrie, Okla., passed away on Jan. 23.

He grew up on his family ranch Bear Mountain, out of Beach, N.D. After studying for two years to become a veterinary technician, he finally found his true love – the oil field. Tibor began in the industry doing mud engineering for several different companies. In the 1970s, he decided to run his own company. When the oil fields dried up in the 1980s, he found his second love of selling heavy construction equipment.

About 10 years later, Tibor began working for Baroid Industrial Drilling Products (IDP), a division of Halliburton Energy Services Inc., and continued with the company for 20 years. His hard work, dedication and great industry knowledge provided him with many accomplishments and recognitions. Tibor valued the strong relationships he built with dealership personnel and other HDD retailers and contractors in his area. He worked with Baroid IDP distributors, as well as end-users, providing fluids training, as well as technical support. He presented training sessions both domestically and internationally, teaching more than 30 sessions each year, at industry events, as well as colleges and universities and  for governmental regulatory groups. Tibor also contributed articles on drilling fluids to the Trenchless Technology DrillmastersAdvisory Board.
Tibor is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Faron Tibor of Parker, Colo.,  and Shawn Tibor of Guthrie, Okla.; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. on Feb. 13 at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond, Okla., as well as this spring outside of Beach, N.D., and at his final resting place at the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Hebron, N.D. where he will be laid to rest. For more information visit http://tinyurl.com/q2fsjl7
