MWH Opens First Office in Canada

MWH, a global provider of environmental, engineering and construction services, has opened an office in Toronto to provide services to the expanding natural resource, energy, industry and infrastructure markets in Canada.

Operating under the name MWH Canada, Inc., the office will initially focus on Ontario’s hydroelectric generation development opportunities.  An open-ended time and materials contract has been signed with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for owner’s representative services on current construction works for hydroelectric site rehabilitation.  MWH Canada is also pursuing contracts on large-scale hydroelectric redevelopment projects for OPG in northern Ontario.

The move enhances MWH’s strategy to build a stronger presence in Canada and increase the types of services offered to clients in that region. In addition, MWH’s Toronto office will address a shortage of engineering resources in the face of burgeoning demand for power generation services in the Ontario area.

“As our client base continues to grow, we must create the necessary footprint to best serve them,” said Alan Krause, president of the Natural Resources, Infrastructure and Industry division of MWH. “By opening an office in Canada, we are providing local resources and talent that are closely connected to our core clients around the world.
