Michels’ Stegeman Honored as Top Corporate Counsel & Diversity Champion
Michels Corp.’s commitment to diversity was recognized recently when chief legal officer and vice president of business administration David Stegeman was named Top Corporate Counsel and Diversity Champion by the Milwaukee Business Journal.
Stegeman joined Michels 16 years ago and has been part of a team that has guided Michels’ growth into the 36th largest contractor in the nation. Michels is headquartered in Brownsville, Wis., and has 6,000 employees and 27 permanent facilities throughout North America. The company is committed to having a workforce and network of suppliers and subcontractors that represent the changing face of the nation. Stegeman shepherds those efforts by advancing corporate initiatives.
He also represents Michels in education-focused community organizations, including Malaika Early Learning Center, United Community Center and the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Fund Inc.
“Personally, it is a great privilege and inspiration to be able to assist these organizations and the communities in which we work,” Stegeman said.
The award recognizes Michels’ corporate-wide commitment to diversity, said Michels executive vice president Brian P. Johnson.
“The Michels family and our executive team know that we succeed because of our people, and having a diverse team encourages the innovation that has allowed us to become an industry leader,” he said.
The award was presented by the Milwaukee Business Journal at a ceremony help at the Pfister Hotel on Dec. 5.
