Largest CCFRPM HOBAS Pipe Installed in Poland

The Czajka Wastewater Treatment Works, designed to treat 80 percent of the Polish capital’s effluents, is under construction on the right bank of the Vistula River in Warsaw, Poland. Environmental concern and growing regional population gave the project top priority.

Estimates indicate that 30 percent of Warsaw’s effluents have been flowing directly into one of the longest and most important Polish rivers, affecting the entire area including the Baltic Sea and the nearby Carpathian Mountain brown bear population.

The work is divided into three phases and HOBAS Pipe is supplying pipes for all three. At 118-in. OD, they are the largest centrifugally cast fiberglass reinforced polymer mortar pipes made to date.

Trenchless technology was chosen due to the river crossing but, also because the pipeline route runs beneath a six-lane road. Several very long jacking runs were completed, setting a global record for the longest fiberglass pipe jacking installation for 118-in. diameter.
