From the Publisher: A Legacy of Education
There is no doubt that education is one of the strong drivers of the growth of the trenchless technology industry. Trenchless Technology is proud to have played a significant role in this educational area. As you will see below, these educational events have been held for many years.
Microtunneling Short Course
(microtunnelingshortcourse.com)
The 25th annual Microtunneling Short Course will be held Feb. 6-8 with a Pilot tube and Auger Boring Seminar held on Feb. 5 at the University of Colorado at Boulder. We have been pleased to be partners with Ozdemir Associates and Microtunneling Inc. in holding these courses over these many years. Each year the course attracts more than 125 students. An added feature this year is that the Pilot Tube Seminar will now include auger boring.
The Microtunneling Short Course has also fostered the launch of the North American Microtunneling Association. In 2017, the course began offering military veterans scholarships.
HDD Academy
The HDD Academy will be held for the fourth time Feb. 22-23 in Tempe (Phoenix), Arizona. This is the preeminent HDD training event in the industry. The Academy covers all elements of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) from project design, safety, equipment selection, tooling and case studies.
It is an honor to partner with Arizona State University in presenting the Academy. The Academy was established with founding sponsors Digital Control Inc. (DCI), Ditch Witch, Herrenknecht, Vermeer and Underground Solutions.
NASTT No-Dig Show
The time-honored NASTT No-Dig Show makes its first appearance in Palm Springs, California, March 25-29. NASTT in conjunction with our management of the show have had an amazing track record for more than 25 years. The No-Dig Show is known for its extensive, peer-reviewed, technical presentations, which will number 167 this year. This is quite the educational program! The show is also known for its amazing exhibit hall and numerous networking events.
The show also presents highly regarded special awards. These include: Hall of Fame honorees, Projects of the Year, Person of the Year, top innovations, etc.
Trenchless Road Shows
We have been holding trenchless road shows since 1993. In the earlier years, they were one week long. In later years, they evolved to three-day sessions and even two days. In some years, we held more than six trenchless road shows. In recent years, Trenchless Technology has been pleased to partner with the Centre for Advancement of Trenchless Technologies (CATT) at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. In partnership with CATT, we have held Trenchless Technology Road Shows in Niagara Falls and Richmond (Vancouver), British Columbia. In 2018, the Trenchless Technology Road Show will be held May 16-17 in London, Ontario.
Trenchless Technology Road Shows blend classroom presentations, an exhibit hall and field demonstrations. The Road Shows have had a tremendous track record and that will certainly carry on in the future.
It’s amazing these events have had more than 50,000 attendees over these last 25 years. Each of these educational opportunities have their own websites, so please check out the details and plan to attend one or more of these great events.
Always keep learning,
