On Jan. 5, 2009, Source 1 Environmental (S1E) officially opened its doors as a new company with an internal executive staff recognized by the waterworks industry. Source 1 Environmental LLC is a family-owned and privately-held company located in Davison, Mich., that specializes in providing cost-effective, value-based solutions to the infrastructure rehabilitation, maintenance, and environmental management industries.
Incubated from Fernco Inc. — a flexible coupling company, S1E brings more than 40 years of plumbing and waterworks industry experience to grow the internationally known trenchless point repair system called PipePatch.
PipePatch is a no-dig pipe repair system that is installed internally to structurally rehabilitate deteriorated pipes ranging from 2 to 24 in. in diameter. This patented cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) system has been used worldwide for structural spot repairs and is the base of S1E’s product foundation. PipePatch provides both flexibility and adaptability to your specific project requirements within the municipal, residential, pool/spa & industrial markets, while reducing long–term maintenance and significantly increasing service life.
Ronald K. Smith was appointed vice president of diversified business at S1E while continuing to temporarily hold his title of Fernco’s national sales manager. Jeff Urbanski was appointed director of operations and will manage S1E North American operations. He was previously employed by Fernco Inc. for 4 1/2 years and held the position of market manager for both the Underground and PipePatch Divisions.
Chad Miller holds the position of the eastern regional sales representative. He worked for Fernco Inc. for 2 1/2 years as a sales coordinator handling both the Underground and PipePatch market. Mike Moore holds the position of the western regional sales representative. Moore worked for Fernco Inc. for two years as a sales coordinator.
This newly formed company has acquired other unique products to help rehabilitate the nation’s crumbling infrastructure. For the past several years, new product development and relationships with cutting-edge manufacturers paved the way for the separation from Fernco. S1E’s extensive product offering of industry-leading environmental products delivers cost-effective solutions to a wide range of customers needs, followed by their team of knowledgeable specialists who have the technical skills to ensure the solution is right for you.
As the world leader in inflatable pipe plugs, SAVA, which manufactures the PipePatch Packers, has chosen S1E to be its exclusive representative for Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Other companies have come to S1E for market representation and distribution such as SealGuard and US Saws. S1E also has StormDrain surface water drainage products and an EPA-recognized line cleaning products called Facility Maintenance.
