CIPP Water Liner Rebrand, EBAA Iron Partnership Strengthens Vortex Water

Two recent news updates from the Vortex Companies highlight its commitment to growing its Vortex Water division in the potable water rehab market.

June 4, United Felts announced a comprehensive rebrand of its CIPP H2O technology for cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) potable water applications. The product will now be marketed under the name UnitedBLUE, specifically designed for watermain renewal. This rebrand follows the successful launch of the Vortex Water division.

The rebrand highlights UnitedBLUE’s ongoing evolution and enhanced performance in meeting the growing demand for reliable, cost-effective potable water main rehabilitation. North America’s aging infrastructure is in critical need of trenchless solutions that meet stringent standards. UnitedBLUE represents the latest advancement in CIPP liners for potable water. Developed in close partnership with United Felts, the product embodies decades of expertise in liner design and manufacturing.

This strategic rebranding is in name only. UnitedBLUE remains identical to CIPP H2O in every technical and functional aspect. Both iterations have been consistently manufactured by United Felts. They use identical raw materials, standardized production processes, and stringent quality controls. UnitedBLUE holds NSF-61 and BNQ certifications, fully approved for rehabilitation of potable water systems. Product performance specifications, installation procedures, and compliance with standards remain unchanged.

“Across the country, millions of gallons of water are lost every day due to breaks in aging water systems. The need for effective, affordable, and minimally disruptive solutions has never been more urgent,” says Cedric Bergeron, senior vice president of Vortex Water. “Our trenchless system, anchored by UnitedBLUE offers a faster, less invasive alternative to traditional pipe replacement. This approach helps communities address this crisis head-on.”

EBAA Iron Collaboration Advances Vortex Water Closer to a Turnkey, Watermain Renewal System

Then, on June 5, Vortex Companies announced its strategic partnership with EBAA Iron. EBAA Iron is a renowned American manufacturer of joint restraints for water and wastewater pipelines.

“This partnership represents a significant step up for water infrastructure rehabilitation,” said Mike Vellano, CEO of Vortex Companies. “We’re combining best-in-class trenchless technologies with proven American manufacturing. This provides a solution that is effective, scalable, and built entirely in the USA.”

EBAA’s Megalug joint restraints are engineered to restrain a broad range of water and wastewater pipe. They are suitable for nearly any application including valves, hydrants, and pipelines. Their integration into Vortex Water Solution Systems including UnitedBLUE ensures rapid, secure reconnection of rehabilitated pipes.

Vortex Infrastructure Services Inc. (formerly Foraction) is solely focused on watermain rehabilitation. They have installed over one million feet of UnitedBLUE. “Our goal has always been to simplify and standardize the watermain renewal process,” said JP Bedard, the company’s CEO. “By combining the strength of our UnitedBLUE CIPP liner with EBAA Iron’s Megalug restraints, we’re providing a repeatable and reliable solution. Municipalities can depend on it.”

The system features the UnitedBLUE CIPP liner, an NSF and BNQ certified product with a third-party tested 100-year design life. It is now coupled with the Megalug joint restraint for a complete solution. Together, these technologies offer a proven, repeatable, and predictable installation process. This can help municipalities combat the estimated six billion gallons of treated water lost daily due to failing watermains.
