“I am deeply honored to be President-Elect of the International Water Association,” says Daigger. “IWA is a unique international organization that takes into account the entire water cycle, beginning with rain coming down from the sky to the point where water is returned to the environment, and everything in between. As an organization of leaders, our mission is to advance the science and practice of water management in a manner that creates more livable urban areas, accelerates the rate at which we are providing drinking water and sanitation to those who do not have them, and enhances the environment. Accomplishing this mission requires a partnership of researchers, leading practitioners, utility managers, technology providers, regulators, and politicians. My role as President is to help the organization and its people be as successful as possible in pursing this mission.”
With so much to do in such a short time, Daigger will focus on four initiatives during his time in office:
• Continue to build strength, both in participation and financially, to allow the organization to expand its programs
• Expand the “family” by including a broader range of professionals than ever before and growing the new generation of professionals
• Reinforce the culture of a “bottom-up” organization in which the outstanding results and betterment of society is produced through the interests and initiative of its members
• Dare to be great, addressing an increasingly “water constrained” global situation by helping to transform water management policies and practices to see that the needs of all citizens of the planet are met well into the future
Citing IWA members as, “A wonderful group of people to work with,” Daigger also expresses his gratitude toward CH2M HILL. “I am very thankful to CH2M HILL for its support of organizations like IWA and specifically for its support for me to serve IWA as its next President. Like IWA, we are an organization focused on excellence and on leadership for the betterment of society. I recently completed my 30th year with CH2M HILL, and look forward to many more as this is an organization that aligns with my values.”
Daigger received his doctorate and master’s degrees in environmental engineering from
