bauma 2013: Gigantic, Amazing, Supreme
An impressive 530,000 visitors frommore than 200 countries converged on the Messe München exhibition center inMunich between April 15 and 21. Not only did this edition of bauma break allprevious records for exhibitor numbers and exhibition space, it also attractedthe highest number of visitors ever.
“This is very good for ourindustry in these turbulent times and it will certainly give it a boost,”said Johann Sailer, Chairman of the Construction Equipment and BuildingMaterial Machinery Association of VDMA and President of the Committee for theEuropean Construction Equipment Industry (CECE).
Klaus Dittrich, Chairman & CEOof Messe München, is more than satisfied: “Our exhibitors were delightedwith the quality of the visitors here and with the international spreadrepresented among them. Good business has been done here. With over 200,000visitors from outside Germany, the number of international attendees was higherthan ever before. The response this year has simply been outstanding.”
The ‘Top Ten’ countries of originamong the visitors were: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the RussianFederation, France, Netherlands, Great Britain, Sweden and Poland. Indonesia,bauma’s partner country this year, was also strongly represented, with a high-rankingpolitical delegation and around 800 visitors.
“For Herrenknecht, bauma 2013certainly showed itself from its best side. The trade audience here was firstclass and very global. We were able to communicate in a very targeted way ourbroad portfolio and our top innovations in tunneling and mining,” saidDr.-Ing. E. h. Martin Herrenknecht, Chairman of the Board of Management ofHerrenknecht.
Ron DeFeo, Chairman and CEO of theTerex Corp., was equally impressed: “As the largest show in our industry, baumarepresents a unique opportunity to meet with a multitude of our customers fromaround the world.” In total, 3,420 exhibitors – 1,346from Germany and 2,074 from abroad – from 57 countries presented their latestproducts and innovations in construction and mining machinery at bauma 2013 ona record exhibition space of 570,000 square meters. bauma is the uncontested No. 1trade show for construction machinery, building material machines, miningmachines, construction vehicles and construction equipment.
