Two CertainTeed Plants Receive Safety Award

Two CertainTeed Corp. manufacturing facilities have recently won theSaint-Gobain Diamond Safety Award for exemplary safety performance.

The company’s roofing granule manufacturing facility in Glenwood, Ark., andUnisul insulation blowing machine manufacturing facility in Winter Haven, Fla.,are among 25 sites worldwide to achieve the honor this year.

Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest building materials manufacturers andparent company of CertainTeed, reviewed more than 1,000 company locationsworldwide before selecting the top 25 plants in environmental, health and safetyperformance for 2005. The Diamond Award is Saint-Gobain’s highest environment,health and safety award and is part of the manufacturer’s wide-scale commitmentto social responsibility and welfare of employees.

Since the award was established in 1990, CertainTeed has received the award11 times for safe operations at various plants, the most of any ofSaint-Gobain’s North American subsidiaries. The company’s Roofing Products Grouphas received the award five times, its Insulation Group has received it fourtimes, and the Siding Products Group and Pipe Group have each received the honoronce.
