TRENCHLESS MIDDLE EAST a Success in Dubai

TRENCHLESS MIDDLE EAST 2009 was clearly established as the region’s largest and most prestigious meeting for trenchless technology professionals at its fourth international event held at the Jumeirah Beach Conference & Exhibition Centre in Dubai, Feb. 16-18.

Trenchless technology is running at a high level in the Middle East despite the current economic difficulties. Known as NDRC (Non Disruptive Road Crossing) in the Gulf region, trenchless methods have an important role to play at all levels in the local construction scene whether  for the simple road crossing or the establishment of major underground utility networks and the benefits are much more lasting than the transient alleviation of the irritation of traffic disruption.

The exhibition was a tribute to the increasing use of the technology in the Middle East, as some 70 companies from 17 countries gathered together to present a truly representative display. Visitors were recorded from 32 different countries.

The two-day exhibition was complemented by a Conference organized by the International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT). The focus of the conference was the ISTT Masterclass sessions, which provided a detailed insight into the various methods and techniques for the non disruptive installation and rehabilitation of pipelines and pipe networks and projects successfully undertaken using NDRC methods. A post-event microtunneling and HDD site demonstration was organized for conference delegates and hosted by Al Naboodah, one of the UAE’s largest contractors.
