TRENCHLESS MIDDLE EAST 2010 a Success in Abu Dhabi
TRENCHLESS MIDDLE EAST 2010 was clearly established as the region’s largest and most prestigious meeting for trenchless technology professionals. The sixth event in the Trenchless Middle East series was held in Abu Dhabi at the Officers club March 15-17, 2010. The event was supported by the Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Co., The International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT) and The Contractors Association.
The spotlight was on Abu Dhabi as it squares up to the challenges set out in the Government’s Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 – an ambitious and futuristic vision to improve and maintain the quality of life for citizens while implementing a vast infrastructure expansion to accommodate the rapidly increasing population. As a result, there are many major innovative construction projects being planned and in progress. These projects will require the use of Trenchless (NDRC) technology, a proven effective and environmentally friendly method.
The ‘TRENCHLESS’ series of events are organized by U.K. based Westrade Group Ltd. At the close of the event, event director, Paul Harwood commented, “ I am delighted that we were able to present another event to the highest standard and I have no doubt the visitors would have been immensely impressed with the high level of professional displays and the wide range of technology on show. It is very satisfying to see the growth of this event following our first appearance in Dubai some five years ago. NDRC is essentially the preferred choice for underground construction and maintenance in many growing cities, and Abu Dhabi was a perfect host as an example of a location where huge volumes of traffic cannot afford to be held up further by construction work.”
The Exhibition was a tribute to the increasing use of trenchless technology in the Middle East, as some 50 companies from 15 countries gathered together to present a truly representative display. Exhibitors were impressed by the quality of visitors and new contacts and business was achieved from the show.
The two-day exhibition was complemented by an International Conference providing a constructive exchange between the regional municipalities, their utility administrators, their contractors and consultants sharing experience and new ideas in connection with the many sustainable NDRC projects ongoing in the Gulf region. A post-event site demonstration was organized for conference delegates and hosted by Drillcon, one of the UAE’s largest contractors.
The organizers have announced that TRENCHLES MIDDLE EAST will return to the UAE in 2011.
