Precision Pipe Works Combines Plumbing and Trenchless
Starting a new business is never easy, but with the extensive experience David Crook and Justin Phipps bring from the plumbing and trenchless industries, launching Precision Pipe Works (PPW) was a smoother and more confident venture.
The company officially opened for business in December 2024 in Franklin, Ohio and has enjoyed immediate success.
When the pair talk about their wealth of plumbing and trenchless experience, they aren’t kidding. Combined, Crook and Phipps have more than 50 years of experience. Crook is owner and general manager of Precision Pipe Works; his entry into the plumbing industry began when he was still in high school, growing up in upstate New York. Phipps, who started out in construction building houses before moving on to the plumbing sector, serves as the company’s master plumber. The partners have known each other for over 15 years.
“I started in plumbing when I was 16 years old,” Crook says. “I started doing trenchless work in 2004 when the company I was with started doing it. I moved to Cincinnati, working for some larger companies that did trenchless, which is how I met Justin [Phipps}. We’ve worked together since 2010 at other companies and last year, we decided it was time to start our own.”
PPW is a quintessential small diameter trenchless and plumbing company. They provide traditional plumbing services, such as drain cleaning and unclogging backups and blockages. On the trenchless side, PPW offers video inspection, root control/removal, pipe relining/spot repair, hydro jetting and robotic pipe cutting.
“We actually specialize in residential trenchless lining,” Crook says. “We do a lot of work for plumbing companies [that do not provide trenchless services]. We service the Cincinnati and Dayton areas, but mostly in Cincinnati.”
Among the equipment PPW uses are Perma-Liner Industries, MaxLiner, Picote Solutions and Apex CIPP Solutions.
