Oman Microtunneling Project Begins

MUSCAT — Gulf Petrochemical Services & Trading LLC (GPS)Gulf Petrochemical Services & Trading LLC (GPS) and their JV partners have kickstarted the micro-tunnelling works as part of their contract with Haya Water for Seeb wastewater project, according to the Tehran Times.

A brief ceremony to mark the start of micro-tunnelling of approx. 20 km for Main Sewer System was held on April 21 at a site near Barka. The ceremony was attended by senior management personnel from Haya Water, consultant. Parsons International, GPSGPS and other JV partners. The overall contract value for this project is RO55 million and the project is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 2, 2010. GPSGPS is one of the leading Omani engineering, procurement and construction contractors with considerable experience in the field of oil, gas, water, wastewater and other infrastructure projects in the region running on its 26th year of operations in Oman.

The project is for the construction of main sewer collector pipe line from Muscat City Centre to Bait Al Barka Sewage Treatment plant (under construction). The diameter of the pipes vary from 600 mm to 2,000 mm depending upon the volume of estimated flow of sewage.
