Maynard lived with integrity, led with humility, and built his life on faith and values. He began working part-time at his family’s construction business (D.H. Akkerman Construction Co.) at age 15 and, in 1987, purchased Akkerman Inc. with his wife Robin, his lifelong partner and soulmate. Together, they grew Akkerman Inc. into a global trenchless leader with a strong leadership team and a deep bench of expert employees.

A man of quiet strength, Maynard believed in doing the right thing, treating others with respect, and putting people first. These principles shaped every aspect of his life and will continue to guide our company’s culture and values into the future.
