The annual Microtunneling Short Course, the premier course covering microtunneling worldwide, was held at the Colorado School of Mines Feb. 9-12 in Golden, Colo.
The course, marking its 16th year, attracted strong attendance with close to 100 participants. The course directors for the event are Levent Ozdemir, professor of Mining and director of the Microtunneling Research Institute at the Colorado School of Mines, and Tim Coss, president of Microtunneling Inc. and senior research associate at the Institute.
Course material covered all aspects of microtunneling, starting with a one-day course on pilot tube microtunneling on Feb. 9 to kick off the event. Topics of the short course, which are covered by world-renowned experts, included a range of topics from geotechnical considerations and design to construction feasibility and shaft construction. Innovative processes and pipe and other equipment were also discussed.
