HDDA Convenes in Texas for Fall Conference

The Horizontal Directional Drilling Association (HDDA) held its annual Fall Conference Oct. 22–24 at the Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. Nearly 100 members attended, participating in informative sessions and valuable networking opportunities.

HDDA President Robert Myers opened the conference on Oct. 23 with remarks on the state of both the association and the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) industry. He reaffirmed HDDA’s mission to serve as the voice of the HDD industry and to advocate on pivotal regulatory and legislative issues impacting contractors today and in the future, including 811 legislation and mud disposal policies.

Conference sessions featured a strong lineup of speakers and timely topics. Alan Burrows, lobbyist with 2910 Consulting, discussed how HDDA members can effectively engage in the legislative process. EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants led a session on insurance and safety in construction, while Mark Bridgers, principal at Continuum Capital, provided an update on trends shaping the construction economy.

The conference concluded with keynote speaker Sean Patton, a former U.S. Army Special Forces Commander and now successful business owner, who delivered his inspiring presentation, Lead Yourself First: Unlock the Greatness Within, focusing on personal leadership and growth.
