The ASTM standard was developed with input from industry experts, and highlights the advantages of using an acoustic screening tool to prioritize sewer pipe cleaning. This technology allows for a quick, low-cost, but low-resolution view of blockage conditions in gravity sewer pipes. This ASTM standard provides consistency for conducting SL-RAT testing and managing data. The guideline highlights the importance of creating data quality management procedures to obtain clear and accurate data that can effortlessly assist in deploying cleaning resources.
