bauma China Breaks Records Once Again
bauma China has broken records once again with more visitors, more exhibitors and more exhibition space for 2012.
Around 180,000 visitors (2010 welcomed 155,615) came to this year’s bauma China, which took place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from Nov. 27-30. That is an increase of 16 percent. “bauma China braved all market tendencies. In this respect, it was held just at the right time,” said Eugen Egetenmeir, managing director of Messe München. “The show once again proved to be the key business platform for companies to tap into the Chinese market, as well as Greater Asia.”
Zhichao Chen, marketing director at SANY Heavy Industry, confirmed the excellent atmosphere at the show: “bauma China brings us a tremendous amount of purchase orders. This trade show always has the same objective with its exhibitors: to expand and grow together.”
After China, the Top 10 visitor countries and regions were Russia, Korea, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Turkey — in that order. Sam Cooper, global marketing services manager at Caterpillar said: “Caterpillar is proud to have been a part of bauma China 2012. This show provided us a wonderful opportunity to connect with our customers and demonstrate our commitment to the China market. We are very pleased with the number of customers who visited and the interest generated from our display.”
For the first time ever, bauma China occupied all of the exhibition space — a total of 300,000 square meters — at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. This is 30 percent more than the last bauma China in 2010. The fair also had a record-breaking number of exhibitors: All in all, 2,718 exhibitors from 38 countries (2010: 1,858 exhibitors from 37 countries) took part in bauma China 2012 – that figure represents an increase of 46 percent. Kevin L. Curtis, president and CEO at Besser, explained: “bauma China is THE trade show for us in China. The exposure it provides us to key decision-makers in the industry is extremely valuable.”
With a total number of 1,837 exhibitors, China again provided the largest contingent of exhibitor participation. However, never before have so many international companies participated in bauma China. After China, the Top 5 exhibitor countries were Germany (172), Italy (122), the United States (116), Korea (67) and Japan (49). bauma China also had eight national pavilions, namely Austria, Germany, Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Korea, Spain, the United States and — for the first time — a joint stand of exhibitors from Incheon City, organized by the Incheon Chamber of Commerce in Korea.
The next bauma China takes place in Shanghai from Nov. 25-28, 2014.
