The Power & Communication Contractors Association (PCCA) held its 2011 convention March 11-16, at the beautiful Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla. This wonderful setting drew more than 300 conventioneers.
This setting on the Atlantic in the Florida Keys was ideal for business meetings, team building, golf tournament and various social events. Directing PCCA’s activities in 2010 was its president Kevin Mason, ElectriCom Inc., and he equally did so at the convention.
A highlight of the convention is the Construction Industry Round Table, which was held on Sunday morning. This was followed by a waterfront boat building team challenge that was fun to participate in and observe. That night there was an auction and dinner that raised more than $135,000. The annual associates’ exhibit and breakfast was held Monday followed by a business session on the Davis-Bacon Act and prevailing wage laws. The annual golf tournament was held that afternoon.
Tuesday featured a spouse’s brunch on the “Outta Touch” yacht. The convention closed with a beach party that featured Larry Libla, W & L Construction, assuming the reigns as 2011 President.
PCCA next meets for its mid-year meeting Aug. 3-6 at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. The 2012 Convention will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country in San Antonio, Texas, March 2-7
