No-Dig North Returns – Trenchless Conference and Tradeshow Ready to Convene in Vancouver

After a year’s hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT) and its Canadian chapters are looking forward to welcoming attendees from across North America to No-Dig North 2021.

Set to take place Nov. 8-10 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, No-Dig North is a must-attend for anyone involved in the underground infrastructure space. This includes – but is not limited to – municipalities, utilities, contractors, engineers and damage prevention professionals.

The conference will kick off Nov. 9 with an opening breakfast taking place in the Vancouver Convention Centre – West Building, West Ballroom BCD. The breakfast features a keynote speaker, as well as the announcement of the Canadian Project of the Year winners.

Michels Canada: Leading the way in trenchless construction\


Michels jobsiteMichels Canada extended the limits of trenchless construction in Canada by using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to complete a 3,540-metre crossing in Burlington, Ontario, under the Hidden Lake Golf Club. The installation is part of Imperial’s Waterdown to Finch Project, a proactive replacement of approximately 63-kilometres of the Sarnia Products Pipeline between the Waterdown pump station in rural Hamilton and the storage facility in Toronto’s North York area.

The Hidden Lake HDD is the longest successful HDD installation in Canada to date, surpassing the previous record of 2,195 metres, also set by Michels Canada.

A 12-inch steel pipe was installed to a maximum depth of 70 metres below the surface and pulled into place in three sections over a 40-hour period.
