The Distribution Contractors Association (DCA) hosted its 65th Annual Convention Feb. 23-27 at Trump National Doral in Miami. The event brings together contractors, associate members and industry leaders for a week of education, networking and collaboration.

Scott Tinker, CEO of Tinker Energy Associates, opened the convention with a keynote on Seeking Energy Truth. He noted that all energy sources carry environmental impacts as well as societal benefits. He emphasized the challenge of balancing those tradeoffs to provide reliable energy for a growing global population. Additionally, he stressed the importance of protecting the environment.

The Town Hall and Business Session featured Keith Swerdferger, Chris Brahler, Kevin Miller and Kevin Michels. They discussed the origins of DCA, its founding mission and goals, and priorities for maintaining the association’s role as the premier organization representing utility distribution contractors.

Committee meetings were held throughout the week, including sessions for the Workforce & Leadership Development, Innovation & Technology, Trenchless & HDD, Membership & Engagement, and Safety & Risk Management committees. A highlight of the Innovation & Technology meeting was a telematics panel featuring Cory Mass of Vermeer, Thomas Langan of John Deere, Jonathan Glennon of Volvo and Cory Maker of Ditch Witch. The panel discussed how telematics is helping drive operational excellence.
