Celebrating Trenchless in Kelowna at the 2022 Trenchless Technology Road Show
Trenchless professionals from across Canada converged on Kelowna, British Columbia for the 2022 CATT Trenchless Technology Road Show – the first in-person Road Show since 2019.
Approximately 220 attendees made the trek to British Columbia’s wine country and the Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort, April 24-26.
The event included 55 presentations spread across 11 tracks that covered Asset Management, two New Installation method tracks, Gravity Pipe Rehab and Upgrades, two Utility Engineering tracks, Pressure Pipe Rehab, Culverts, Condition Assessment/Design, Sewer Rehab and Panel Sessions; and the opportunity to network with 36 exhibitors from across North America.

Live demos are a hallmark of the CATT Trenchless Technology Road Show’s and this year demos were hosted by Linestar Utility Supply – Vivax-Metrotech locator; Canadian Indurocoat Corp. – spray-in-place watermain rehabilitation process; and Spatial Technologies – Leica DSX ground penetrating radar.
Mac Logan, general manager of infrastructure, City of Kelowna provided a keynote address and the event served as a platform for the formal announcement and introduction of the Canadian Underground Infrastructure Innovation Centre (CUIIC).

CUIIC is Canada’s first world-class hub for research, innovation and education in underground infrastructure – announced in April that it received official approval from the University of Alberta.
CUIIC will build on the success of the Centre for Advancement of Trenchless Technologies (CATT) at the University of Waterloo and the Consortium for Trenchless Technologies (CETT) at the University of Alberta.
CATT and CETT have over 40 years of combined experience in the trenchless sector, focusing on underground construction methods that involve minimal excavation to install, assess and rehabilitate underground infrastructure including water and wastewater lines, pipelines, and optical fiber, among other applications.
Both CATT and CETT ceased operations as of May 1, with CUIIC continuing to address the challenges associated with underground construction through research and education. As such, the 2022 CATT Trenchless Technology Road Show served as the final CATT-branded trenchless event.
