Trenchless Technology has presented its Person of the Year annually since 1993. The Person of the Year is chosen based on the individual’s recent achievements, lifetime achievements and demonstrated leadership abilities, and selected by a committee of peers.

The Person of the Year is presented as a cover story in the March issue of Trenchless Technology magazine and formally presented each year at the NASTT No-Dig Show.
The nomination period for the 2025 Trenchless Technology Person of the Year Award is now closed. Nominations for the 2026 award will be available soon.
The established criteria for selection of the Person of the Year includes:
- Significant Recent Achievement — How has the achievement advanced the field of trenchless technology? Examples include the development and successful marketing of new products, equipment or technology, the development or implementation of new educational initiatives, or engineering design procedures/guidance.
- Lifetime Achievement — Important achievements, awards, and recognition attained over the long term. How has the nominee’s career helped the trenchless industry grow and be successful? Examples include challenging assignments and projects, improvements in productivity, safety, or economy, technological breakthroughs, patents, designs, R&D projects, etc.
- Leadership — Leadership activities, positions and results that have been achieved. How have the activities and results advanced the trenchless industry?
